Nicaragua Solidarity Coalition News 9.30.2025: New US Threats against Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua

Venezuelanalysis: Trump plans $400 million toward countering Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua A recent US government document revealed the Trump administration plans to redirect $1.8 billion in foreign aid toward a new “America First” strategy, and prioritize neutralizing “Marxist, anti-American regimes” in Latin America. Reuters reported $400 million would support activities to end illegal immigration to the US, counter China, and "confront the Marxist, anti-American regimes of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua." The document, known as a Congressional Notification, follows news that the upcoming National Defense Strategy will also mark a pivot for the US away from a focus on adversaries like China and Russia to instead prioritize efforts in the Americas.

Responsible Statecraft: Proposed war authorization could allow Trump to target 60+ countries Although an official version of the proposal  to authorize the use of U.S. military force against drug cartels has yet to be released, publicly available information suggests that it could be used to justify U.S. military intervention in at least 60 countries. The Sinaloa Cartel, for example, designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the Trump administration in February, operates in “at least 47 countries,” according to the DEA. Some of the countries that are allegedly involved in the Sinaloa’s activities: Albania, Australia, Belgium, Cape Verde, Chile, China, Colombia, the DRC, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Ireland, India, Italy, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the “Northern Triangle” nations of Central America, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Senegal, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, and the UK. Other countries with Sinaloa Cartel activity include Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Panama, and Thailand.

Daniel Ortega Speech on 46th Anniversary of founding of National PoliceHow many thousands of drug traffickers are there in the United States, well established, enjoying themselves; how many drug traffickers are there in the US State institutions. How is it possible, given that they have an immense, sophisticated military apparatus, that they cannot control the drug traffickers who are selling, distributing the drugs and who then deposit their money in US banks. And they're not going after that money, they don’t go looking for that money. Neither can the solution be to start murdering drug users in the United States, because in practice that is what they are doing here, they kill those whom they suspect of dealing drugs. So then they will also end up thinking that killing drug users in the United States will solve the problem.”

The US rulers “who have such intelligence power, such gigantic military power, where is that power” when it combats drugs inside the US borders? “If they can't control their ports, if they can't control their cities, the United States is where the world’s greatest drug consumption takes place and where thousands and thousands of young Americans die as a result of drugs. Nor do they not want to assume the responsibility of controlling their Banks; since drug traffickers stealthily open accounts in the Banks, and there is no law there that requires strict checking of those accounts. In other words, there is complicity there.”

“But there is racial hatred, they have rulers who are racists and those rulers have promoted wars around the world ever since the United States of America existed; they are the ones who have promoted most wars in the world, who have occupied countries, bombing countries, destroying cities, the ones who feel that they own the Planet, simply because they have military power and great wealth.”

In Nicaragua “we have something that is much more valuable than atomic weapons, than sophisticated weapons, than the submarines and aircraft carriers which the Imperialists of the Earth may have; we have something much more powerful which is Dignity, Dignity because we are a People forged out of Dignity. This Police Force is a Police made of Strength and of Dignity, because they come from the People, and are of the People, they come from humble families, and are there to serve humble Families, to defend the Security of ordinary Families.”

John Perry and Francisco Dominguez: True, Or Fake News? ‘90% Of Nicaraguans Feel Spied Upon’ In El Pais English edition, says that Nicaraguans live in “a climate of permanent surveillance” in which they distrust even their neighbors. Neighborhood meetings are painted as “a mechanism of social control,” So why do people go to them? The reality is many such meetings are excellent examples of grassroots democracy, designed to hold public services to account. In Masaya one barrio committee has been pushing for better garbage-collecting services and assists the local health center in ensuring that local people with chronic illnesses get treatment. A typical meeting in this barrio sees 100-200 neighbors listening to and questioning officials in a friendly atmosphere. Such levels of participation should be the envy of western “democracies,” rather than being scorned.

Meanwhile, in the USA we are caught on surveillance cameras 34 times a day, in Britain the number doubles. Spain uses Israeli “Pegasus” spyware against those pushing for an independent Catalonia. And the secret surveillance of our phone calls and emails has been revealed as widespread by Edward Snowden and other whistleblowers.
