Action alert! Better US policy toward Latin America & the Caribbean!

Dear US-based supporters of Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela,

Please tell the United States Congress that it is time to stop killing children with Unilateral Coercive Measures (“sanctions”)! Instead, we demand a better US foreign policy towards Latin America and the Caribbean by Ending the Monroe Doctrine.

Please send the following message (below the dotted line) to your Congressional representative. You can find their contact info here by entering your address. Then copy and paste the letter below into your representative's "Contact Me" form.

Thank you,

I am writing to advocate for better US foreign policy towards Latin America and the Caribbean.

First, I wish to see an end to all unilateral sanctions. Please read this article which summarizes the content of a briefing Congresswoman Delia Ramírez hosted in April on the impacts of these measures. https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/join-movement-end-sanctions

More info on the harms of sanctions is in this recent report by Mark Weisbrot and colleagues on how increased sanctions caused a sharp rise in infant mortality in Cuba.” https://cepr.net/publications/us-sanctions-and-the-sharp-rise-in-infant-mortality-in-cuba/

And here is a link to the letter from Health Workers to the US Government calling for an end to sanctions and to stop killing children, which was presented at the April briefing. https://sanctionskill.org/health-workers-to-us-government-stop-killing-children-with-sanctions/

Congresswomen Ramirez and Velazquez are raising awareness of the need to stop using unilateral sanctions and to call for better US policy towards our neighbors. To this end, they have introduced H. Res. 1056 to annul the Monroe Doctrine. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-resolution/1056

*Please Co-sponsor this historic Resolution.*

I will be in touch with further info about the need for better US policy towards Latin America and the Caribbean.

Kind regards,
