Co-President Rosario Murillo: We are moving towards Mother's Day [May 30] celebrating the progress, achievements and everything that is possible from Peace.

The Co-President of the Republic, Compañera Rosario Murillo, highlighted that Mother's Day is approaching and in Nicaragua we are celebrating the progress, achievements and everything that can be done through Peace, such as strengthening the maternal health system, which has been key in reducing mortality and improving the well-being of pregnant women.
"Good afternoon, dear families of our Blessed Homeland. Good afternoon, dear mothers, our mothers, mothers of our beautiful, harmonious, joyful Nicaragua. Mothers who nourish the Nicaraguan soul with such strength by the grace of God. Our mothers, we declare our love to each and every one of you. We recognize, respect, and admire the great strength of all the mothers who have made and make this Nicaraguan people have so much value and love, bravery and honor, unity and peace," she said.
She added that "blessed mothers, how much we love you and how much we learn from each and every one of you, Mother Nicaragua, Nicaraguan mothers, our best gift is Peace, we are walking towards Mother's Day. "
In turn, she highlighted that the Ministry of Health reported on the progress of the Maternity Homes, "in 2006 we had 20 State-owned and 29 private, this year we have 182 Maternity Homes, a program that has been recognized by international health organizations, the Network of Maternity Homes throughout the country, which reaffirms our commitment as a Nicaraguan family, with the life and well-being of all women and mothers who in our Blessed Nicaragua have advanced."
"The quality of life of pregnant women and their children, how it has advanced, in 2006 there were 9,205 pregnant women housed in Maternal Homes, the few we found; in 2024, 72,143 and maternal mortality reduced by 80% from 104 deaths in 2006 to 21 maternal deaths thank God in 2024."
She indicated that "mortality in children under one month old fell by 66%, from 1,352 deaths in newborns in 2006 when the people regained control of the government, to 465 in 2024. We have certified 6,742 midwife sisters from the Maternal Homes, and we continue to spread health, life, and hope in every corner of the country. "
"We are moving toward Mother's Day celebrating the progress, the achievements, and everything that is possible through peace, through harmony, and through that sense of family, love for one's neighbor, love among ourselves, fraternal love, love of family, love of community— these are the values of our Nicaraguan culture, by the grace of God," she said.
She also commented that "here we are, comrades, celebrating life. We are also inviting each other from the Secretariat of Creative Economy, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, the mayors' offices, the Institute of Tourism and all the entities of this Government of the People President, of the Families President, of the Mother Presidents, we are inviting each other to hold our blessed mothers in greater affection, from our beautiful recreational and tourist spaces, to celebrate them in a big way, to celebrate that we live in peace and safety as Nicaraguan mothers deserve. Mother Nicaragua, brings us all together, and reunites us with the God of all victories, in the certainty of a harmonious, full, joyful life, with well-being and rights and long live all Nicaraguan mothers."

The mayors' offices deliver housing in Morrito, El Rama, La Sabana, La Concordia, Ticuantepe, La Trinidad and paved streets in Managua, Matagalpa, Boaco, El Cuá, Diriamba and roads in El Ayote, San Rafael del Norte, Comalapa, Bluefields, León, Muelle de los Bueyes and Rancho Grande, improvements to stadiums and museums.
