Nicaragua Solidarity Coalition 3.12.2026: US War on Iran, International Women’s Day, Remembering Hugo Chavez
Government of Nicaragua: International Women’s Day - We Are Women, We Have the Power To Be and To Do; That Is What Matters On this Day of so many Splendors, our Memory embraces the Heroic Women who at all times, under all circumstances have known how to deploy our Immense Power to build, never to destroy; to be Life and Hope; to grow, never to debase or humiliate nor to lower ourselves...Never made to bow, never subdued, never degraded, never weakened, never less than our ever more tremendous Womanhood, that God has placed in every Spirit, in every Soul, in every Womanly Presence and Frequency.
There are areas in which we must deepen more and more, from our Serene Intelligence. All of our Revolutionary Institutionality, everyone and each one of us must continue thinking and doing, in order to overcome cultural and social flaws, the afflictions and plagues that mark us, as they do all over the world, male chauvinist violence, the pretense to superiority, harassment, deep wounds in the Soul and Body, wounds that must be addressed and overcome, because they are traces of a Past that refuses to abandon us but which we must abandon, together, so as to seek out the Best… We Women recognize ourselves as Combatants for Peace, for Values, for Ideals, for a Future Free of Poverty, that Material and Cultural Poverty with which others have tried to dominate us.
Denis Moncada, Nicaragua Co-Foreign Minister and Chargé d'Affaires of Nicaraguan Embassy in Washington, DC: The People and Government of Iran have the Sacred Right to defend their Homeland “All this barbarity, Comrades, generates condemnation and rejection from the remaining humane sectors of this world. The Zionist state of Israel and the US administration are responsible for these crimes that undermine the peace, stability, and security of Iran, the Middle East, West Asia, and other regions of the world. The aims and objectives of the armed aggression against Iran were clearly outlined by President Donald Trump in his February 28th speech on US combat operations in Iran. We Nicaraguans, we Sandinistas, know this well: this is how to overthrow a government, using military might, and in this case, martyring its supreme leader.”
Co-President Rosario Murillo: "Today we feel him close, within us. Commander Hugo Chávez, you are here." Rosario reads from a statement by Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez who said, “Many are the peoples who today focus their hearts and thoughts on the figure of the Eternal Commander, Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, whose voice and presence dwell in the hearts of those who believe in the dignity of the people.” Today marks 13 years since his passing to another plane of existence, but he remains present in this one. For those of us who believe in eternal life, we know that the Spirit dwells within us, and the power of those immense Spirits fills us, nourishes us, and celebrates us as spiritual beings, every single day.
Today we feel you close, within us. Commander Hugo Chávez, you are here, in your people, in your beloved Venezuela; in Delcy, who fights the battles, who, as she says, feels your presence in every struggle and every victory of the people. “You taught us to heal, to deeply love this land, to hold our heads high with dignity, never to surrender again,” Delcy says of Commander Chávez.
“His greatest legacy is peace, equality, and social justice, built with conscience and true unity. Chávez became the people and eternal hope in the heart of Venezuela. There are people whose voice fades with the passage of time, and there are others whose words continue to walk among the people, among the families, like a seed sown and turned into hope, transformed into hope, into certainty for generations.”
Your words are beautiful and I wholeheartedly agree with you, dear Acting President, dear Sister Delcy. This is how we feel, this is how we resonate, this is how we live the Spirit of Commander Chávez in these times, when it is our duty to continue being brave, strong, formidable, and dignified.
