The new academy will offer free language courses in Chinese, French, English, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian, all certified by the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN) in Managua. Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke: “Today, in recognition of his sacrifice and dedication, the symbol of the struggle for peace, this University Academy of Languages bears his name ‘Hero Brian Willson’ so that our young people can remember every day and be inspired by Brian’s unconditional love for his brothers and sisters, the Nicaraguan people and his lifelong defense of the Sandinista ideal.”

TruthOut: Trump Is Gunning for War in Venezuela, Raising Fears of US-Backed Regime Change  A summary of the current US war moves against Venezuela, which soon may affect Nicaragua. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua “enemies of humanity.” U.S. foreign policy toward Venezuela, under both Democratic and Republican administrations, has long aimed at Venezuela regime change. By 2017, U.S. sanctions had tangible effects: a low-income Venezuelan family of five could expect to consume only 6,132 calories per day — 1,226 per person if divided equally. As of August 7, 2025, the bounty on Maduro stands at $50 million, despite the fact that most international experts, including the authoritative 2025 United Nations World Drug Report, consider that Venezuela plays a minor role in the narcotics trade. Should the US carry out direct attacks on Venezuelan territory, Caracas could expect strong diplomatic support from the region despite no longer enjoying the political influence it held under Chávez.
