Nicaragua Solidarity Coalition 11.11.2025: Nicaragua Condemns False UN Human Rights Council Report; US Threatens New Economic Warfare on Nicaragua
November 5, 2006
November 5 — 19 Years Since the Electoral Victory of the People-President Daniel Ortega After 16 years of neoliberal disaster and social suffering, Daniel Ortega and the FSLN win the presidential election. “Nicaragua is producing a New Revolution, a Spiritual Revolution, the Revolution of Love, the Revolution of Solidarity, the Revolution of Justice, the Revolution that is going to give him Work to this People.” - Commander Daniel Ortega, November 5, 2006
Nicaraguan Government Speech on Spurious Human Rights Council report
1. The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua reiterates that our country is no longer part of the manipulated, obsolete, interventionist Human Rights Council….
6. With full historical, moral and political authority, our country rejects any resolution or report lacking legitimacy, such as this misnamed “Human Rights Expert Group on Nicaragua,” designed to invent accusations and justify political aggression against our country.
7. This group, imposed by Western countries and their servants, who have very familiar and long exposed destabilizing political agendas, produces reports based on biased sources and criteria manipulated by individuals and organizations financed by those same countries, with the purpose of distorting our Nation’s reality….
10. We know perfectly well the reason for creating and sustaining this group, as a curtain of fake legitimacy for its promoters to conceal their true agenda: imposing sanctions, unilateral coercive measures and criminal blockades against our People.
11. These measures constitute authentic crimes against humanity and directly violate the human rights of Nicaraguan families, obstructing their Right to Development, Health, Education, Food, Drinking Water and other essential Human Rights….
19. Nicaragua speaks with the authority of facts on the ground. In our Nation, human rights are realized and conquered every day in hospitals that save lives, in schools and universities that are open and free for everyone, in decent housing, in highways, drinking water and energy lighting up every community.
Nicaragua Government Statement on the false UN Human Rights Council report
3. We reject, with absolute forcefulness, the attempts to turn the Human Rights Council into a political tribunal, manipulated by the imperialist and neocolonial powers seeking to use this space as an instrument of domination, extortion and aggression against the free Peoples of the world….
6. Nicaragua rejects the very roots of this imperial double standard which purports to judge the free, dignified Peoples of the world, while at the same time supporting modern colonialism, even when faced with its crimes, faced with the genocide against the Palestinian people and wars promoted by the very same ones who proclaim themselves as “defenders of human rights”….
9. The so-called "Groups of Experts on certain Countries" represent neither legitimacy nor truth. They are a farce created by European countries, whose sole objective is to discredit legitimate governments which do not submit to their selfish imperial designs and agendas.
10. We reject these reports full of lies, distortions and falsehoods, put together with information manipulated by mercenary NGOs, financed by the very same people who, hypocritically and shamelessly, today attempt to set themselves up as guardians of world morality, as if to cure themselves from the effects of their own permanent crimes….
12. We defend real and concrete human Rights: the Right to Life, Free Health and Education, Decent Work, Housing, Energy, Drinking Water, Security, Development and Self-Determination.
Nica Notes (Becca Renk): U.S. Scrambles to Put on Pressure on Nicaragua A US Trade Representative’s office (USTR) report alleges Nicaragua violates labor regulations: “allowing use of child and forced labor, human trafficking, repression of freedom of association and collective bargaining.” Washington is threatening 100% tariffs on goods imported from Nicaragua and suspension of all benefits for Nicaragua from the Dominican Republic–Central America Free Trade Agreement [DR-CAFTA]. The report produces no evidence of Nicaraguan government complacency in child or forced labor, describes chartered flights of migrants into the country on the $10 tourist visas granted to all visitors as “human trafficking,” and conflates industry trade associations with unions when describing “union arrests.”
From 2007-2023, 70,452 companies signed commitments to use no child labor and to respect the rights of adolescent workers. During that same period, 1,636 new unions were formed, now with 1.2 million workers affiliated in unions, or 38% of Nicaragua’s labor force. 138,374 women who were working for less than minimum wage had their salaries raised to the minimum, and employers paid out $8.8 million in claims for workers. The minimum wage has increased 550% over 17 years.

World Beyond War.org: Social Summit In Santa Marta, Colombia, Opposes Militarization In The Caribbean / Cumbre Social En Santa Se Opone A La Militarización En El Caribe The Third Social Summit of the Peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, held on November 8-9, brought together more than 1,200 national and international participants. This event was organized within the framework of the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States)-European Union summit. The Social Summit took issue with the actions of the US Fourth Fleet as a serious violation of international law and human rights.
In a very significant act of support for the organization and the popular movement, Colombian President Gustavo Petro attended the event to hear some of the proposals presented by the summit participants on how to build paths of coordination for the defense of sovereignty, democracy, and regional integration. The president expressed his firm rejection of the interventionist actions of the US in Latin America and the extrajudicial executions in the Caribbean. He also expressed solidarity with Palestine against genocide in Gaza and greeted the Sumud flotilla members who were present.
4. Nicaragua reaffirms that no State in this or any other Hemisphere has the authorization or mandate of the United Nations to attack us and to kill us, as the US Government authorities, with a criminal mentality, say they do nor to plunder or steal the natural resources of the States that make up the CELAC States represented here.
5. Their lies, falsehoods and slander, creating irresponsible narratives to confuse our populations and the International Community, are part of their aggressive policies of expansion and hegemonic domination, whose gradual decline is self-evident.
6. Latin America and the Caribbean is not the backyard of the United States of America, as they mistakenly believe based on the Monroe Doctrine and the belief in their Manifest Destiny, a policy and doctrine designed to justify their aggressions, invasions and illegal theft and seizure of the natural, cultural and human riches of our Caribbean America….
9. The Government of Nicaragua reiterates its support, solidarity and recognition of the Constitutional and Legitimate Government of Venezuela, its People and the democratically elected President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
10. Our solidarity with President Gustavo Petro who defends the Sovereignty and Dignity of Colombia with Patriotism, in the face of disrespect and threats from the North American Government.
11. With the Heroic and Dignified People of Cuba, our solidarity and accompaniment in their struggle in defense of their Sovereign Revolution against the economic, financial and commercial blockade.
